Child Development Center

"To know, love and serve God"

Welcome to Saint Albert the Great Child Development Center

Established in 1997

We are thrilled to welcome you to our family. We know you have many options in care for your children and are honored you have chosen Saint Albert's as your provider.

Our primary goal is to provide your child with a warm and safe environment that mirrors the comfort of home. We feel children learn best when they discover things for themselves. We don't teach, instead we provide opportunities for discovery.

Our program is well balanced and provides your child opportunities in pre-math, science, art, music, language, creative expression, dramatic play, large and small motor skills. Socialization techniques will play an essential role in your child's day. It is our promise to provide your child a safe and supportive environment in order to develop self-confidence, self-esteem, and a positive self-image.

Our program has been designed to meet the regulations of Washoe County Social Services, Reno Fire Department & Washoe County Health Department.

Our Mission

Our mission is to take advantage of the teachable moments that happen every day by fostering the intellectual, creative, social, emotional, and physical growth and development of our students and to inspire a lifelong commitment to learning.

A caring, cooperative school environment promotes cultural values and supports positive relationships and respectful interaction. We will provide an environment that allows children to learn by doing — moving from concrete, hands-on experiences to more abstract concept development.

Our priority is to provide a healthy balance of child-directed and teacher-guided activities, as well as time for children to work individually, in small groups and in large groups.

We believe that a stable, safe, healthy, comfortable, and culturally relevant environment is crucial to a child's growth. A paly-based approach provides a child-centered curriculum directed by teachers in which children are encouraged to construct their own knowledge.

We beleive that our program reflects the needs and goals of children and families.

We look forward to working closely with families which will provide an integrated, comprehensive approach to learning.

Our Philosophy

Early childhood is a time of curiosity, a time for play, and a time of rapid development. We believe differentiated instruction should adapt content, products and processes to meet the diverse learning needs and preferences of all children.

Children grow and learn as they play. Play-based instruction not only enables young learners to have fun, but it also encourages interactive and cooperative learning, passion for discovery, and a foundation for later learning experiences.

The program's philosophy is based on the NAEYC's guidelines on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning theories. We believe that every child can learn and grow with the proper care and instruction. Age and stage, individual differences in learning style, and social and cultural differences are always considered. The best practice is to adapt the materials and activities to meet the varied needs of all children.

Every child is unique and deserving of an early childhood education that facilitates academic, social, and developmental growth through a variety of enjoyable experiences.

Education

Children are taught through song, action and story that God is with them when they play, sign, share, grow, eat, help and pray. They are taught that God is interested in them and will want to love him in return. Children are taught to care for others as well as themselves.
